We are currently seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified candidates to join our database to assist in the supervision and management of our examination venues throughout England and Ireland. Exam invigilators may be engaged to assist and supervise on a range of tests administered by the Tertiary and Industry Tools division at ACER UK.
Position context
What exam invigilators will assist with:
- Supervise test rooms, and ensure exams remain secure
- Check IDs and manage attendance lists
- Manage test time and assist candidates
- Report any incidents
We are seeking applicants who:
- are confident;
- are great communicators with the ability to give clear instructions;
- have a high attention to detail;
- has integrity and a calm reassuring presence; and
- are able to follow direction.
Applicants proficient in the use of computers will be highly regarded. Tests will be delivered via computer as well as in pen and paper formats.
Experience in exam supervision is essential.
Availability:
Applicants must be available for the full duration of the exam day and for any required training sessions. Additionally, exam invigilators may be required to assist in administrative and other related processes prior to and after the test day.
Dates:
Exams take place throughout the year on both weekends and weekdays. Exam periods will vary depending on the test; however, invigilators will be provided with expected dates of attendance well in advance of the testing rounds.
Selection process:
Applicants will be invited to an interview prior to confirmation of appointment at ACER UK.
Exam invigilators are appointed on a casual basis. Remuneration will be paid at a casual hourly rate of pay relevant to the position being engaged for. The Exam invigilator position will pay a casual hourly rate of £20.00 per hour.
Job responsibilities
The primary role of the invigilator is to observe test takers and monitor the test room/venue while the exam is underway and ensure procedures are followed. An invigilator may be responsible for a specific room, various tasks, or the coordination of certain sections of the test venue but has no decision-making authority.
Pre-test tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Provide availability and confirm attendance to the project team
- Complete necessary employment forms and attend any mandatory training
- Familiarise themselves with relevant manuals, rules, and procedures
- Declare any conflicts of interest
During the test:
- Attend venue briefing
- Take direction from the Chief Supervisor
- Process test takers through Registration
- Monitor test takers during the exam
- Provide test takers with general directions
- Assist in maintaining test security
- Support/aide test takers (if required)
- Escalate issues to the Chief Supervisor
- Escort test takers to the bathroom
- Familiarise yourself with any requirements for test takers with Reasonable Adjustments
- Monitor Reasonable Adjustment test rooms
- Complete all required documents, including Incident Reports, where necessary
After the test:
- Complete all required documents, including Invigilator Agreement, and Incident Reports
- Complete timesheet
