Position overview
The Project Officer is responsible for providing effective and efficient administrative support for the day-to-day activities of allocated project(s) / program(s).
The primary focus of this role is the development, review and improvement of Arabic assessment items for the IBT, ensuring that items are high quality, age appropriate and appropriately aligned with the UAE Ministry of Education Arabic curriculum.
Position context
ACER UAE is a subsidiary of ACER Limited, based in Dubai. The organisation is focused on creating and promoting research-based knowledge, products, and services that support improved learning across the life span.
ACER UAE delivers commissioned educational research, capacity building programs, and assessment services across the UAE and the broader Middle East region. This includes working closely with the UAE Ministry of Education, as well as a range of government entities, ministries, and schools.
Job responsibilities
- Provide administrative support for the day-to-day activities of allocated projects /programs;
- Adhere to governance and service delivery protocols;
- Respond in a timely and professional manner to queries and requests for information;
- Liaise with relevant staff members, or other business units/ functions, to resolve issues as they arise;
- Plan and organise delegated work activities to ensure completion by set timelines;
- Adhere to data collection and management procedures to prepare, collect, record and maintain data;
- Assist with the administration and maintenance of databases, administration systems and online platforms (as applicable);
- Assist with promotional activities and broader communications as directed;
- Contribute to the enhancement and further refinement of existing data management and administration systems; and
- Work on other projects / programs commensurate with jobsize as required.
Additional responsibilities
- Develop high quality Arabic test items for the Arabic IBT across relevant grade levels and levels of difficulty.
- Ensure test items are appropriately aligned with the UAE MOE Arabic curriculum and ACER's assessment frameworks.
- Review existing Arabic IBT items for curriculum alignment, accuracy, language quality, clarity, age appropriateness and level of difficulty.
- Identify gaps within the existing item bank and develop new items where additional curriculum coverage or different levels of difficulty are required.
- Work independently to meet agreed item development targets and timelines.
- Participate actively in team based item reviews, moderation and quality assurance processes.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on items developed by other members of the Arabic assessment team.
- Revise items in response to internal review, expert feedback and psychometric analysis.
- Work collaboratively with ACER colleagues in Dubai and Australia throughout the assessment development cycle.

Skills, knowledge and experience
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

- Computer literacy, including experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience working in the education (or other relevant) sector
- Experience working in a client service environment
- Familiarity with database packages / database management and experience using various internet applications
