Position overview
The Senior Project Officer will coordinate the day-to-day activities of allocated project(s) / program(s) and develop and maintain data management and administration systems.
Position context
The Tertiary and Industry Tools division develops and delivers high quality and evidence-based assessments and education services with a focus on tertiary education, vocational and professional education.
During peak testing periods, the Senior Project Officer will be required to work outside standard working hours, including weekends. These requirements will be planned and discussed with the Project Director and/or Portfolio Manager, and additional hours will be managed in accordance with the prevailing ACER Enterprise Agreement.
Job responsibilities
- Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of allocated projects/ programs including governance and service delivery protocols;
- Provide high level coordination for the day-to-day activities of allocated projects/ programs;
- Manage day-to-day communications in a timely and professional manner;
- Liaise with relevant staff members, or other business units/ functions, to resolve issues as they arise;
- Assist with the documentation of detailed project/program plans and timelines;
- Monitor project/program timelines and respond to milestones in a timely fashion;
- Develop, monitor and maintain databases, administration systems and online platforms (as applicable);
- Review and update websites and assist with promotional and/or sales activities as directed;
- Contribute to the development of collaborative working relationships with clients, partners, stakeholders and internal staff;
- Contribute to enhancement and refinement of data management and administration systems; and
- Work on other projects / programs commensurate with jobsize as required.
Decision making authority
The incumbent is required to exercise initiative in carrying out delegated responsibilities, although close consultation with the Project Director, Senior Project Director and/or Portfolio Manager is important. Contribution to decision making and innovation is expected. The Senior Project Officer is required to operate in an autonomous manner as work will not always be within established routines. The Senior Project Officer will make decisions about day-to-day activities; other decisions are made with reference to the Project Director, Senior Project Director and/or Portfolio Manager.
The Senior Project Officer assumes no supervisory or management responsibilities.

Education
Bachelor Degree in relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience.
Skills, knowledge and experience
Essential
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience providing administrative support to a project / program in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, including the ability to work under pressure
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Solution focused with the ability to demonstrate initiative without constant supervision, as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Computer literacy, including experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Familiarity with database packages/database management and experience using various internet applications
- Experience working in the education (or other relevant) sector
- Experience in supporting customers with diverse and accessibility needs with tact and sensitivity
